EcoStar Rust & Scale safely removes built-up rust and scale from steel, cast iron, and steel alloy materials. EcoStar Rust & Scale does not etch steels or cast iron materials although some pitting may be evident after cleaning due to the oxidation process of rusting. EcoStar Rust & Scale is not intended for use on or with aluminum, zinc, magnesium, copper, pyrite or non-ferrous metals. Unlike acids and caustic materials, this product requires no special handling or precautions for use.
Pour EcoStar Rust & Scale into a container made form stainless steel, fiberglass, polyurethane or similar plastics. Dip materials to be cleaned into EcoStar Rust & Scale. When materials are clean (usually 2-12 hours) remove from tank, thoroughly rinse, and air dry. Protect the metal with some form of rust inhibitor such as paint or oil. EcoStar Rust & Scale removes sale and other protection from metal. Therefore it is necessary to protect metal from re-rusting.
It is recommended that the cleaning tank contain some sort of filtration system and a means of circulating the liquid. This will result in better cleaning action and longer life of the product.
Cleaning time depends upon degree of oxidation and quality of the metal being cleaned. Metal should be checked periodically and removed when clean. For heavily oxidated metals, a reduction in cleaning time will result if you remove loosened material from steel by lightly scrubbing with a brush.
As a general rule, when product no longer produces a quantity of bubbles when agitated it is not working properly. In most cases it is not necessary to replace entire product. Simply add more EcoStar Rust & Scale to tank until bubbles can once again be produced.
When cleaning filtration system or replacing product, dispose of residue materials in an appropriate manner.
